A ceasefire resolution on the Israel-Gaza War has been proposed by Russia during the United Nations Security Council on 17 October 2023. The resolution on the Israel-Gaza War, 2023, for a ceasefire of conflict between Israel and Gaza, could not be taken into consideration as it failed to obtain a minimum number of required votes to be passed.

The USA, the UK, and France voted against the resolution and They cited the reason for declining the resolution that Russia failed to condemn Hamas’s attack on Israel.
Albania, Ecuador, Guna, Malta, Brazil, and Switzerland abstain from voting on the resolution. Notable, the resolution needed nine votes in favor to have passed, as ANI reported.
