ISRO To Launch PSLV-C58/XPoSat Mission from Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) SHAR, Sriharikota

India Space Research Organisation (ISRO) informed about the the Launch of PSLV-C58/XPoSat Mission from Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) SHAR, Sriharikota through its official Twitter handle also known as X. ISRO is the agency of the Department of Space of Government of India mandated with development of Space Science and Technology.

XPoSat: X-Ray Polarimeter Satellite. XPoSat Mission is to be launched from Satish Dhawan Space when the entire world welcomes the year 2024. The successful launch of the PSLV-C58/XPoSat Mission mission is to give happiness to the Indian and science community at on onset of the year 2024.

Features and Payloads of PSLV-C58/XPoSat Mission from Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) SHAR, Sriharikota.

The XPoSat (X-ray Polarimeter Satellite) is India’s first mission specifically designed to explore the behavior of intense astronomical X-ray sources under harsh environmental circumstances. Two scientific payloads will be carried by the spacecraft participating in this mission in low earth orbit (LEO).

In a medium X-ray energy range of 8-30 keV photons of astronomical origin, the primary payload POLIX (Polarimeter Instrument in X-rays) will handle the polarimetry parameters such as degree and angle of polarization. The X-ray Spectroscopy and Timing (XSPECT) payload will provide spectroscopic data in the 0.8–15 keV energy range.

Polarimetry measurements of the degree and angle of polarization will expand our understanding by two additional dimensions, making them an ideal method. This would be the main area of study that the Indian scientific community would pursue with XPoSat.

Payloads for XPoSats:

POLIX:

POLIX is for 8–30 keV energy range astronomical observations. Throughout the five-year expedition, 40 brilliant astronomical objects in various categories are to be observed.

XSPECT:

Fast timing and strong spectroscopic resolution in soft X-rays are provided by the XSPECT payload, which combines spectroscopy and timing.
